Your First Visit
Wear comfortable clothes with easy access to abdomen, knees and elbows. I use facial skin and tongue to diagnose so please refrain from wearing make up or tainted sunscreen and avoid tongue brushing on the day of appointment.
If possible, bring in all medications and supplements you are currently taking. You may email or text images from front and back of the bottles.
You may download the forms, complete and bring with you on the day of our appointment or if you wish, scan or email the forms but please make sure images are legible.
When you arrive for your first acupuncture appointment I will review your current state of health, past illnesses, and family history. These questions are important because the holistic approach of Oriental medicine takes everything into account. Your current symptoms may not seem related to past health issues, but our bodies are complex landscapes and everything that happens to them leaves its mark.
I will discuss your condition, examine your pulse and tongue. The acupuncture points I choose will depend on your condition, but you can expect approximately 10 needles. Once the needles are inserted, you are left to relax comfortably for 40 - 60 minutes with the needles in place. Many people find acupuncture treatment deeply relaxing, and it is not uncommon for patients to fall asleep during this time.
